Putting

Beginners use Sawgrass practice holes 8 for chips and 9 for slope putts. Tip: When you know you can hole it, chip off and come in again until you get the feel.
Lines on putt power bar for uphill Short putts for each line is 2/10 elevation, Medium is 5/10 and Long 1.2
Example: cup elevation = .5 so Short would be 2.5 lines & Medium would be one.

There are two extreme lines for making putts on the slopes. One is hard and the other is soft. When practicing try to see how close you can get to both extremes. Making it easier to get in the middle for competition.

The putting guide is on hard side, when it leaves the ball far from the hole after a miss. Less than 10 feet or very flat long putts require less accuracy hitting the blue target line. If there is a slope the blue line needs to be hit exactly to maintain the roll arc. If the putt is a long uphill, stop short of blue line or roll over hole.

The wide blue line with it's transparent edges is the width of the hole, The wide white line is the width of the ball and there is room for two balls to go in the hole side by side. Because of the different widths it is best to measure from the center of lines. The measurement from the center of the hole to the center of the blue line should equal the centers between the white transparent lines. It is also important  for measurements to be made perpendicular to the hole and parallel to a grid. I have no idea what the gaps do in the white line that move and sometimes lineup.

When making long putts with little slope I leave the target line set at the hole and move the target line so it is an equal distance on the opposite side of blue. If guide goes over hole the ball will role over unless adjusted. (I have not understood exclamation of how to do this)
With bigger slops a best guess is needed to minimize slope variation after guide adjustment.

When moving target lines it is important not to break contact with the screen because the scale adjust when you let go. A screen styles tip can be rolled to make fine putting line adjustments. Drafting dividers make measuring centers easy. They should not touch the screen because they conduct body energy. They should not be kept in pockets. To help me adjust to the slower putting speed I watch two or three times before hitting.

Putting from off the green gives you less points, when you miss, then chipping so choice depends ability to read slope and additional power needed to putt over rough and fairway.

Putting pouches are worth it. Don't waste putting guides. If you have a 15 yard putt downhill with a big break, don't bother with a guide. The make percentage is extremely low. Better to chip it close and get +2 points (GP) for nice shot opposed to a missed putt and no points. Points matter. Try to max. your shot whenever possible that's an extra +1.

Putting guide power bar takes practice. Beware. Downhill (more than 1.0) big breakers can be lined up perfect, hit the power meter prefect and still miss. On uphill putts (more than 1.0) if the putting guide line goes through the hole that mean it will jump the hole. Rolling hills and Sands are the hardest course to use putting guide successfully.

What I am starting to feel but do not have words for is adjusting power to make it to the top of mounds and let the slope carry the ball to the hole. What a kick to get it right and watch the ball slowly roll into the hole.
